We are about leadership and systemic change. We need to consider that boundaries (physical) no longer exist. Education is global. Leadership must be shared. Essential Conditions do exist. Skilled teachers are needed. Equitable Access, Shared vision, Profesional learning, support for change.
In 2003 students tended to spend more time on the internet than they did in front of television.
NETS - standards for Administrators.
I am concerned that the first portion of this presentation - specifically the importance of a shared vision, teacher leadership and the other similar presentation items were unnecessary. The schools here know this. We needed to move forward. We don't need to be convinced.
One to One schools - Laptops for each student. Our district has visited Kutztown already this year. The suggested presentation that Singapore uses with its new teachers is something we should address with our teachers.
I like the idea the computers are part of systemic reform, not just the inclusion of computers. This fits LFS well. However, if we are talking about technology as a tool, let's get to discussing it as a tool. Up to this point the information is redundant to what most of us already know and believe.
My question remains, if assessment is what drives instruction, what state approved assessments are going to be devised to permit reliable and appropriate evaluation geared to increase student learning? In the end we must place our new pedagogy and learning in their test!! How does their test reflect what the state wants to do in terms of teaching and technology?

What underlies the assessment?
I would think about assessment as a product of the standards. I don't focus on it as an outcome, it just a reflection of a students information base. Technology is just a tool for access to information and allowing for different patterns of grouping both people and information. If you would think of it from this point of view, does it change the way you would look at your questions. Is this tool changing how work is being done daily in your school?
